The people's court of Dengzhou, Nanyang, Henan province, observed Martyr's Day to commemorate deceased national heroes, on Sept 30.
A worshipping ceremony was arranged at the city's martyr cemetery, where people from all works of life gathered to pay their respects.
Officials from the court joined in a chorus of the national anthem to get the ceremony underway, followed by a minute's silence. The officials then paid a visit to the Martyr's Monument and the Martyr's Museum.
Martyr's Day was initiated in 2014 and falls on Sept 30 each year. It was put forward by the central government to remember the people who gave their lives for national causes. The day also serves to encourage government officials to follow in the spirit to devote themselves for the welfare of the people.
