Nanyang: City of Roses to host 2019 WFRS Regional Convention

The 2016 World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) Regional Convention was recently held in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

The WFRS Regional Convention is an international platform for the exchange of research ideas and achievements in cultivation, landscaping, breeding, culture and other aspects on roses.

In October 2016, Nanyang of Henan province won the bid to host the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention, after the city's developing rose industry left a great impression on the WFRS president and committee chairman during a top level visit.

A group of delegates from Nanyang attended this year's convention in Uruguay, and delivered a featured report on Nanyang's 2,000-year-long history of rose cultivation and its continuous developments in the field, leaving a deep impression on the crowd.

During the conference, the delegates also held a discussion with the president of the WFRS, Kelvin Trimper, and other top officials from WFRS to address a detailed schedule and preparations for the upcoming 2019 WFRS Regional Convention.

Over 300 rose experts from 26 countries attended this year's convention, exchanging their research and ideas. Those in attendance also expressed their good wishes for the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention to be held in Nanyang.

As the host city for the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention, Nanyang will further promote its high qualifications as a "city of roses."
