The city development plan of Nanyang in Henan province during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2010), was made clear to the public on Dec 22, after the latest briefing by the city development and reform commission.

During the conference, Wei Pengcheng, deputy head of the Nanyang development and reform commission, gave a detailed explanation for the plan.

According to Wei, Nanyang goals are to double the city's GDP and per capita income by 2020, create a production value of 379 billion yuan ($54.6 billion), and attract fixed-asset investment of 530 billion yuan.

As of late 2014, the Nanyang government has planned 3,958 major projects, with a total investment of 3 trillion yuan, of which 3,245 projects were recruited into the provincial management system.

National-level projects such as the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway, Mengxi-Huazhong Railway, and Danjiangkou Reservoir Environmental Protection Pilot Project were listed.

Meanwhile, 957 projects have received financial support from the central and provincial governments, with a total investment of 2.23 billion yuan.

Statistics show that the city's GDP has increased 8.8 percent in the first nine months of 2016, with fixed-asset investment growing 16.8 percent, ranked first and second in the province, respectively.
