A total of 50 pure-electric buses produced by Anhui Xingkailong Coach Co Ltd were delivered to Nanyang on Jan 3. This is seen as a key part of the city's promotional efforts for green transportation.

Testing, registration and license plate installment still need to be done to the buses. Furthermore, charging piles and stations are also under construction. Once all preparations are finished, the buses will be successively put into use.

With a length of 10.5 meters, the 28-seater buses are equipped with inflammable and explosive materials detection systems to ensure the passenger safety and a movement tracking device to monitor the driver conduct. Featured are seven external and internal surveillance cameras, which will be used to survey road conditions during driving and parking.

Of course the highlight is the lack of environmental impact the traditional buses will have, due to zero emissions and minimal noise pollution, a gigantic step towards providing an all green public transport system for Nanyang.
