(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2018-02-01

Nanyang, located in Central China's Henan province, officially launched air medical rescue services on Jan 30, 2018, with three local hospitals already setting up air rescue bases in the city.

The three hospitals - Nanyang Second General Hospital, Nanshi Hospital and Nanyang Central Hospital - will now offer air medical rescue services to Nanyang residents through the 120 emergency hotline.

The helicopter on duty will be equipped with a breathing machine, defibrillator, aspirator and other medical equipment, allowing medical staff to conduct real-time condition monitoring and even emergency treatment during the transfer of patients.

Emergency air rescue, which is both quick and reliable, is one of the most effective means of patient transfer and is widely used in developed countries. The service is still in its infancy in China, with only big cities like Beijing and Shanghai introducing the service.
