Twenty-one Chinese and foreign bands were invited to the first Funiu Mountain College Student Music Festival held at the Nanyang Vocational College from Aug 17 to 19.
The festival was hosted by the Nanyang Vocational College, with band performances as the main attraction and college bands as the candidates. After careful review, the organizer invited 21 bands from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, the United States, and France to give live performances at the event.
Famous bands such as NerveBloc, Because Is You, Bare Teeth, PM3.0, Zingway, Saturday, Voodoo Swing, and Tiny Deer attended the music festival, bringing a riveting show to Nanyang audiences.
Jing Peng, the bassist for Tiny Deer, said that he was grateful for the opportunity to participate in the music festival and meet new friends.
Voodoo Swing, a US-based band, was founded in Salt Lake City in 1993 and has performed all over the world. They rocked audiences with a unique and intense split Rockabilly style and Bruce music. A resident of Xixia said that it was so exciting to listen to a foreign rock band in Nanyang for the first time.
A leader at the Nanyang Vocational College believes that the music highlights moral and aesthetic education by integrating teaching resources with a multi-form teaching mode.
The music festival has improved students' cultural and artistic awareness, enhanced their cultural confidence, enriched the spiritual and cultural life of the masses, and improved the popularity and reputation of Xixia county and Nanyang.
