People bid farewell to military recruits in Nanyang

A farewell ceremony for the 2018 military recruits was held at the square of Nanyang Railway Station on Sept 11 to celebrate them embarking on a new journey.

More than 1,000 of the first recruits, wearing new camouflage uniforms and with red flowers pinned to the front of their clothes, raised their right hands to solemnly swear at the ceremony that they would be brave and disciplined, and strive to realize the great Chinese dream.

More than 10,000 Nanyang youth have enlisted in the army this year. After a physical examination, political examination, and other procedures, over 3,000 applicants were eventually enlisted. The new recruits will be dispatched to various parts of the country from Sept 10 to 15.
