The Zhenping portion of the 2018 Central Plain Cycling Open finished on Sept 8, with six groups fighting for the championship.

The Zhenping race attracted over 1,000 athletes of more than 50 teams from 34 provinces and cities across the country, as well as foreign countries such as Kazakhstan and Mongolia. They competed for 18 medals in six categories.

The winner of the 84-kilometer men's group said that he enjoyed the game very much and would return to Zhenping to compete again.

The Central Plain Cycling Open is a famous event in Henan province sponsored by the Henan Provincial Cycling Association and the sports departments of host cities. More than 100,000 athletes take part in the event every year. It has become the province's largest sports event with the largest number of participants. Competitions with the broadest social influence aim to enhance and promote national health and fitness.

The Zhenping government places great importance on the competition, and has invested more than 20 million yuan ($2.9 million) in the building of a circle track in Zhenping county, which has had positive effects on people's fitness. The government will continue to develop the county's sports industry to promote economic development.
