Nanyang's first Young Opera Actor & Player Competition commenced in Xichuan Theatre on Sept 26 with the participation of more than 100 opera actors and players in the opera culture feast.
The competition sponsored by the Nanyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, and Publication and the Xichuan county government, will last for three days to Sept 28. Nearly 100 contestants from citywide will bring in various traditional Henan operas, such as Yu Opera, Quju Opera, Wan Bang, Yue tune, etc. with themes related to modern and traditional operas.
Moreover, Chinese musical instruments' performances will also be seen on site, including Pipa, Quhu, Suona and big gong, flute, guzheng, and so on. The contestants coming from different theatrical troupes and art centers of the city will perform 79 pieces of Chinese opera.
The competition is expected to be held in Xichuan every three years.
