Nanyang holds top political sessions at convention center

The first session of the 6th Nanyang Municipal Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the 6th Nanyang Municipal People's Congress opened in the Nanyang Convention Center on Sept 25 and 26 respectively.

A total of 520 municipal CPPCC members attended the first meeting of the 6th Nanyang Municipal Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Liu Chaorui, the 5th chairman of Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC, made a report on the meeting, summing up the work of the 5th Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC over the past five years. He put forward suggestions for Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC to pay close attention to people's livelihoods, promote consultative democracy construction, further strengthen democratic supervision, and improve the capacity to carry out duties.

Wu Donghuan, vice chairman of Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC, reported on the work of proposals. Since the establishment of the 5th Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC, 2,988 proposals have been received, of which 2,695 have been put on file, an annual increase of 20 percent over the 4th Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC.

There were 603 municipal officials taking part in the first meeting of 6th Nanyang Municipal People's Congress on Sept 26.

In his report, Huo Haosheng, mayor of Nanyang city, discussed the achievements he had witnessed since assuming office in March 2014 and stated that he looked forward to working on the main objectives for the next five years.

The 6th Nanyang Municipal Committee of CPPCC concluded on Sept 29, while the 6th Nanyang Municipal People's Congress lasted until Sept 30.
