Nanyang runners compete along Baihe River

The 2018 race along the Baihe River started with more than 5,000 people sprinting into action after the opening shots were fired at Nanyang Stadium on Oct 14.

The competition, supported by Nanyang people's government, was held by Nanyang Long-Distance Running Association and divided into two competitions: a 21-kilometer race and a four-kilometer mini race. Professional pacemakers and physicians were arranged for the safe and orderly conduct of the contest. Colorful performances were shown in the main venue of the stadium during the race. In addition, participants were able to enjoy the beautiful autumn views of Baihe River Wetland as they ran.

The competition advocates low-carbon environmental protection through running and promoting national fitness activities.

This is the third year that Nanyang Long-Distance Association has held the event. Currently, the association has set up 32 running teams in central urban areas and counties, with more than 3,000 long-distance runners. The association has successfully organized runners to participate in many top international events including the Beijing Marathon and the Xiamen Marathon.
