China amateur badminton event held in Nanyang

The 2019 China amateur badminton event (Henan selection contest) opened in the Xixia Cultural and Sports Center of Nanyang city on August 17.

The two-day competition gathered more than 300 badminton players from 32 teams and adopted the latest version of the rules by the China Badminton Association and the Badminton World Federation.

Players from Xinyang, Pingdingshan, Sanmenxia, Zhumadian and Jiaozuo in Henan province participated in the selection contests.

Xixian, a county in Nanyang city of Central China's Henan province, boasts a tradition of grassroots sports, with badminton as the sport of choice. Several Chinese world champions have ties to Nanyang.
