Rowing, canoeing contests held in Nanyang

The 2019 National Youth Rowing U Series (Nanyang sub-competition) and the 2019 "Sports Cup" Henan Canoeing Championship were held at the Nanyang Water Sports Center on August 25.

A total of 592 athletes from all over the country competed in 54 water events.

The competitions were co-hosted by the Henan Sports Bureau, the Henan Water Sports Management Center and the Nanyang Sports Bureau. They would run to August 29.

The National Youth Competition U Series is a key sport competition developed by the General Administration of Sports of China and the National Sports School Federation, and the Henan Canoeing Championship is the highest level water sport for young people in Henan province. They aim to improve the fitness of young people and train high-level excellent athletes for the country and to provide a platform for the development and exchange of youth sports.

A total of 109 juvenile athletes from Nanyang would compete in rowing and canoeing events.

As the first pilot demonstration city for national fitness, Nanyang is one of the cities of the National Junior Rowing team. With the unique advantages of water resources and a profound local base, Nanyang has produced a large number of excellent rowing talents for Henan province and China. Many national and world rowing champions have emerged in Nanyang.
