The 2015 "China Nanyang Cup" International Aerial Robotics Competition (Asia-Pacific Zone) was held at Beihang University in Beijing from Nov 5 to 8.

A total of 20 teams from more than 10 Asia-Pacific countries showed top-notch technologies such as visual navigation and accuracy control by operating UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) in the competition.

The competition was jointly sponsored by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics and its Guidance Navigation and Control Branch. The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China organized the competition, which Nanyang municipal people's government co-hosted for the first time.

Initiated by the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1991, the International Aerial Robotics Competition has a history of 24 years. The competition always creates some challenging tasks for contestants to help ensure the progress of aerial robotics technology.

According to a strategic agreement signed between Nanyang government and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China, Nanyang city in Henan province will host the competition from 2015 to 2020.
