Four counties in Nanyang win national honor

Nature lovers in Nanyang have some good news.

Four counties in Nanyang, Henan province, have been awarded as National Green Environmental Zones for their great achievements made in environmental protection while pursuing rapid economic development.

The list of National Green Development Zones was recently released by the State Council, with new evaluations of cities' natural resources and achievements on environmental conservation. The listed areas will enjoy financial allowances and preferential policies to pursue green, sustainable development.

Here is some more detailed information about these four winning counties:

Xixia county

With 81 percent of the area covered by forest, Xixia is honored as a "Green Kingdom" and is rich in medicinal herbs and fruits.

The county has won numerous national honors before, including the National Healthy City in 2009, the National Garden County in 2011, and the Top Beautiful City for Tourism in 2015.

The National Dinosaur Relic Park in Xixia boasts the world's most well-preserved dinosaur fossil eggs, stunning visitors with thousands of rare fossil species.
