Sheqi county in Nanyang, Henan province has exported 18,500 tons of organic agricultural products to Beijing over the first nine months of 2016, earning the county a revenue of over 118 million yuan ($17.13 million), according to Sheqi management office of agriculture.

Focusing on the development of the Agricultural Leading District while also providing support to various agricultural enterprises, the Sheqi government has put forward a series of preferential policies to promote organic agricultural production.

Agricultural products designated by an organic branding will be awarded 5,000 yuan, while products earning recognition as a geographical specialty will be awarded 10,000 yuan. Additionally, products which qualify to be registered with a new agricultural trademark will be awarded 2,000 yuan.

Partly in thanks to the local government's proactive measure to promote organic agriculture, Sheqi has made great improvements in the industry and established 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares) of organic production bases.

The local government took advantage of the county's rich land resources, giving priority to the development of an agricultural cluster, forging the cluster as a place to integrate agricultural production and tourism.

Statistics show that the county has established 1,500 mu of orchards and 2,900 mu of vegetable production bases, providing some 400 jobs for local farmers.
