A total of 40,000 returned migrant workers have started up their own businesses in Nanyang, establishing 22,000 economic entities, generating 1.77 billion yuan ($269 million) in revenue and 220,000 jobs in the process.
More and more Nanyang natives have come back from big cities such as Beijing and Shenzhen due to increased life pressure and the hope given by the burgeoning hometown.
Meanwhile, a series of preferential policies have been rolled out in Nanyang in recent years to encourage the return and entrepreneurship of local talents, including lowering the threshold of entrepreneurship and the providing of tax reduction.
From January to October, the government has granted 510 million yuan worths of business loans, helping 29,000 entrepreneurs and subsequently creating jobs for 150,000 residents. Training sessions have also been held to the benefit of 7,303 migrant workers.

Meanwhile, Nanyang has established 14 entrepreneurial platforms to serve business starters, including Nanyang IE Street and Maker Space. Six city-level incubators were built to provide project information, policy interpretation and training.
For two straight consecutive years, Nanyang has awarded the Top 10 Returned Entrepreneurs with 100,000 yuan, aiming to further enthuse their dedication to enterprising.
