Nanyang promotes preparation of WFRS Regional Convention

The Nanyang government held a promotion meeting to report on preparations for the 2019 World Federation of Rose Societies Regional Convention on Aug 22.

As the main venue, the Nanyang Rose Garden has completed construction of the tourist center, a rose street, a mini-garden, a rose museum, and a rose corridor. A total of 830,000 roses have been planted in the rose garden, 62.8 percent of the target amount. The Nanyang Rose Park has been upgraded and the Nanyang Rose Exhibition Garden has built a 500-meter rose culture exhibition gallery.

Since the beginning of this year, 38 units in the urban area have completed a 7,660-meter greening transformation, 92 units have completed roof greening, and 40 public toilets have completed greening, adding more than 47,600 square meters of green area. Landscaping at the entrances and exits of five artery roads and six highways have completed their annual planting goals and their first planting stage, respectively.

Nanyang also built 13 rose landscape corridors and 17 new parks, and upgraded 27 old parks. In addition, the city has introduced 2,051 new species of roses, together with 2,000 local varieties, making the number of rose varieties the highest in the country and second highest in Asia.

Five scenic spots, including Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Nanyang Han Dynasty Stone-Carved Art Museum, the Neixiang County Government, the International Jade City, and the Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall, have planted a total of 8,520 roses. They have also started promoting Chinese and English public signs.
